Germany provides more than 1 million EUR for the relief of IDPs

Islamabad, 9 December 2014 – Germany supports the relief activities of the World Food Program (WFP) for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the north-west of Pakistan through a “twinning-project”.

The German grant of more than 129,000,000 PKR will be combined with an in-kind-grant of the Government of Pakistan with a donation of 6,863 metric tons wheat. This will enable WFP to provide fortified wheat flour to 510,000 beneficiaries, a total of 85,789 families, for one month in FATA region & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The Special Representative of the German Federal Government for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Ambassador Dr. Michael Koch, who is visiting Islamabad today, told the press: “Germany supports people in dire need. In the approaching winter season, enhancing food and nutrition security will be crucial.”
