SCO Summit & Pakistan

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a political, economic, and security organisation the creation of which was announced on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai, China. Its Eurasian Org, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are members of SCO. India and Pakistan joined SCO as full members on 9 June 2017 at Astana, Kazakhstan summit.

Key role or aim of the SCO is primarily centered on its member nations, Central Asian security-related concerns, often describing the main threats it confronts as being terrorism, separatism and extremism. Fast few years, the organisation’s activities have expanded to include increased military cooperation, intelligence sharing, and counterterrorism.

Summit would be a new milestone in the history of the SCO with eight full members attending the Summit including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and India will solidarity and enhance trust between the member counties and build a closer SCO community.

Pakistan brings along the experience to the in countering terrorism and experience of dealing with the menace including the sacrifices of the precious lives on the way. One cannot ignore Pakistan’s efforts towards regional peace and stability. India is also part of summit.

In Summit, Pakistan will be having a chance to put forward its case and resolve to fight against the terrorism. Pakistan needs to promote its role in the regional peace and stability as the important player, especially the partnership in the regional connectivity projects.

Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit with the link of the Belt and Road Initiative, ambitious connectivity project that aims to link China with Europe and Africa, it makes countries closer. Members & Asian countries welcomed the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, which gives more impetus to the economic cooperation among SCO member states, with security it make more efforts in promoting and implementing the concept of common economic development, which is the core of the Belt and Road Initiative.

SCO in terms of maintaining regional peace and strengthening economic cooperation. There were many benefits that can be reaped from the expansion. Like Afghanistan, Pakistan have very influential in Afghanistan. Nearly 2.8 million Afghanistan refugees are in Pakistan for the last 3 decade. Pakistan membership will bring great benefits, such as structure and stability to Afghanistan and even central Asia. Pakistan naturally at place where easy to connect ways.

Pakistan will definitely benefit from the SCO.
