Okara ( UNP /Sheikh Nadeem Sheraz).According to the official hand out released by DIO Okara, that the sewerage related issues of Okara are multi-dimensional i.e decades old sewerage lines, choking of lines due to settlement and silting, blockage of drains, encroachments on drains, illegal housing colonies which didn’t put in place their own sewerage system, lack of adequate disposal stations, rapid urbanization coupled with increase in population, mushroom growth of houses and commercial areas etc.The Govt of the Punjab with the assistance of World Bank has introduced ‘ Punjab Cities Programme (PCP) ‘ in Municipal Corporation Okara which shall cater for rehabilitation of sewerage system of the city during the next few months.In addition to the above mentioned programme, District  Administration has undertaken the initiatives of desilting of sewerage lines, restoration of encroached and blocked drains, replacement of small pipes at some choked & settled points as short term measures to supplement the PCP. In this connection the Deputy Commissioner Okara has disclosed that
 during the next few weeks the sewerage issues of Okara shall be resolved on permanent basis. The DC  further said that in past
some persons had thrown mud, pebbles, construction material etc to choke the the sewer lines and  civil society of Okara should  report about such elements.
