Eminent Journalist Sohail Warraich Visits UO

The eminent Pakistani journalist and scholar, Sohail Warraich, visited the University of Okara and had an interactive session with the students of the Department of Communication Studies. The session was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar.
In his welcome note at the event, the VC showed gratitude to Warraich for his arrival at the UO and told that the university administration was keen to develop strong and fruitful linkages between academia and industry in order to enrich the students with necessary skills to cope up with the challenges of the modern world.
Dr Zahid Bilal, In-Charge Department of Communication Studies, highlighted the journalistic and scholarly contributions of Warraich and urged the students to learn maximum from his works to embellish their careers.
Warraich, while addressing to the event, said that he felt great pleasure to see a rapidly growing university with a progressive culture in a peripheral area. He applauded the efforts of the VC in ensuring academic and infrastructural development of the university.
He also answered various questions from the students. Discussing the future of media with respect to the fast emergence of digital journalist, Warraich argued that there was no denying the fact that the future belonged to online media and citizen journalism but the impact and shelf value of printed material including books, magazines, journals and newspapers could never be undermined.
At the end of the session, Dr Zakar presented a shield of honor to Suhail Warraich and appreciated the faculty of communication studies for organizing the event.
