UO inks MoU with Government of Punjab for Women Development Centre

The University of Okara and Government of the Punjab’s Women Development Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Women Development Centre (WDC) at the university in a bid to provide professional trainings and career counseling to the female students. 
The UO’s Additional Registrar, Jamil Asim, has been appointed as the Director of the WDC while Ifra Pervaz, Lecturer in Computer Science, will be the Focal Person. 
At the eve of the signing of this memorandum, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Zakria Zakar, told, “There are more than 67 percent female students at the campus and there is a dire need to equip them with necessary life skills and professional capabilities so that they are able to make their respectable living during and after completing their degrees.”
Discussing the objectives of the agreement, Jamil Asim said that in the WDC, the professional trainers would be teaching the female students certain skills including resume writing, hob hunting, web development, report writing, interview techniques, career planning, professional development and research. 
He further told that these skills would enable the students to plan their careers wisely and adapt to the requirements of the modern job market. 
Under this memorandum, the Government of Punjab, will be providing financial grant and the necessary equipment including furniture, computers and other IT apparatus for the WDC.
